Please read and understand the rules before playing Azoptaos.
1. Username content. You MUST have a forum account to play the game. This means if you want a friend to join, DO NOT JUST GIVE THEM THE DOWNLOAD LINK. You must give them the forum link and have them make an account.
1a. Make sure your forum username and game usernames match. This way we know you have a forum account if you’re playing the game. This is important so that we can contact you at any time via the forums if necessary. If you do not contact a staff member before a staff member contacts you about mismatching usernames, you will receive a 40% warning.
1b. If your usernames cannot match due to spaces, symbols, or the game does not allow enough characters, this is okay! Just tell a staff member. You will not get in trouble.
1c. Keep usernames and character names appropriate. While we do allow swearing in chat, not everyone is completely comfortable with it. To keep everyone in mind, keep usernames and character names clean.
2. You are allowed ONE account with up to 10 characters. If you are found to have multiple forum accounts and/or multiple game accounts, you WILL be contacted. A code is in place that maxes out the characters at 10 per account, so if we notice anyone has more than 10, we will be able to tell that they are cheating.
2a. No item hoarding characters. This means you cannot create a useless character simply to hold onto items that won’t fit in your stash. It takes up server space. If your stash is full, clean it out. Characters found out to be item holders will be deleted and the items will not be returned.
2b. Regarding username changes: Wanting a new username is NOT an excuse for making a new account. If you wish to have your username changed message the server host, Sparkoo , on the forum with your current username and what you want it changed to. You are allowed only one username change.
2c. “I forgot my password!” This is not an excuse to make a new account. If you forgot your in-game password, message Sparkoo , the server host. Forgot your forum password?
3. You must be the age of 13 years or older to play Azoptaos. However, beyond physical age, we believe you should be judged on your mental age. So if you cannot handle swearing, some blood and horror elements, or the killing of cute little animals, please refrain from joining or playing the game.
4. Swearing IS allowed in game. However, do not direct it at anyone else. This violates our rule of respect.
4a. Although swearing is alright, NO derogatory terms directed at a certain race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, etc. are allowed in any map in any public chat. You may think it’s funny, but others find it EXTREMELY offensive.
Confused about what terms we're talking about? The spoiler below contains words not allowed on Azoptaos. We don't even want to say them, but we realize you may need clarification. The following and any variations of the following are not allowed.
5. Be respectful to your fellow players. Don’t insult them, swear at them, or do anything they tell you not to. We’re trying to establish a mature playerbase. If you can’t figure out how to act your age, please do not join.
5a. Homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc. will not be tolerated. All users deserve respect, regardless of their orientations, identities, race, ethnicity, etc.
5b. Respect the staff. They take time out of their day to ensure Azoptaos and the forums are a welcoming and safe community for everyone. If a mod asks you to do something,just do it. Do not harass admins for items or prey. Treat staff as your fellow players and be kind and respectful.
6. DO NOT BEG. Period. Begging includes constantly asking for help taming, help finding prey, asking for items, or asking for anything from another user that has not been offered to you. You are allowed to ask others for help once. If they say no, you must leave them alone. Continuing to bother them counts as begging.
7. Do not steal items. If someone’s prey drops an item you are looking for, you may ask them for it. If they say no, leave them be. If you find a random item with no one else around, you may take it. If anyone else is in the map, ask them if it is theirs before claiming it.
7a. If you are hunting in a group, establish who gets what dropped item from the prey you are hunting. If you cannot decide or more than one person wants an item, you must roll for it.
To roll, type /roll 1 100 in the chat. You MUST do 1 to 100. Highest number wins. Do not start any fights if you don’t win; this is a fair system.
7b. Do not steal prey. If someone is attacking a critter you wanted, too bad. It’s theirs. You may ask if they need help, but if they say no, leave them be.
7c. If you did not hit the critter but are in the group, you cannot roll for it. You must have come in contact with the prey and helped kill it to roll for the drop. The only exception is if the group that killed the critter gives permission to roll to the user who did not help.
7d. Haven dim 0 is a place where items dropped by players are considered a free-for-all. Drop parties are welcome, but users trading their items should move to another dim. However, respect other players; if a player is clearly/stating they are giving an item to another player, don’t run over and grab it.
8. NO PITY PARTIES. We want Azoptaos to be an enjoyable gaming experience. This is nearly impossible with players sitting around and complaining or spouting negativities. We have zero tolerance for pity parties.
9. No spamming. It’s annoying, useless, and prevents players from seeing actual conversations in the chat. Spamming includes repeating the same message over and over, writing out random letters/numbers, and constantly speaking in all caps. The cap usage maximum is 4 consecutive words. However, this does not mean you can just send multiple, separate capped messages or capped messages separated by a couple none-capped words.
Acceptable: "OMG LOL NICE DUDE"
Not Acceptable: "DID YOU SEE THAT OMG LOL" or "I TAMED A WYVERN and it's SUPER STRONG and COOL"
9a. Advertising is allowed in Haven dim 0, but be careful to not spam the chat. If the chat is busy and users are coming in and out frequently, you may advertise your trades/roleplays once every 5 minutes. Remember that you can also utilize the Trade and Roleplay boards. If a moderator tells you to slow down your advertising, do as they say.
10. DO NOT TOUCH THE FILES. We have worked hard to put this game together, and messing with the game files counts as hacking. The only file you should be touching is the actual game exe.
If we find that you have edited files (maps, critters, etc) you will be banned and not welcomed back.
10a. Do not cheat/exploit game bugs. If you notice a game flaw, report it on the Bugs/Glitches board. For some clarification, this includes, but is not limited to: item duplication, pet duplication, anything that may aid you while playing the game/give you an unfair advantage, etc. Attempting to use 3rd party engines for speed boosts etc. will also not be tolerated.
If we find that you have exploited a bug or have cheated to bypass game restrictions (duplicated items, enhanced speed, larger characters, staffed accounts, intentionally “ghosting” in any way, etc) you will be banned and not welcomed back.
11. Only English is allowed in General and Local chats. We don’t mind if you speak other languages in parties, as long as everyone in the party can understand it.
12. Keep content PG-13. We are a very lenient group of people, but we have to draw lines somewhere. If you want to act out any scenes of sexual nature, take it to an empty dim and talk in a Party/whisper. Try to stay away from spawn points in case someone shows up. We want everyone to be comfortable, but we also want you all to enjoy yourselves. If someone asks you to stop, do so and move your location.
Due to many violations, this rule seems to need some clarification: we are very lenient on sexual content. HOWEVER, keep such discussions out of Haven. We do have some younger players here, and we do not want the first thing they see to be a discussion regarding genitalia.
Discussions of serious topics such as rape, suicide, self-harm, etc., joking or not, are not tolerated under any circumstance.
13. Minimodding is not allowed. If someone is breaking the rules and a mod is not about, report them on the Report Someone Board immediately. Make sure you have screenshots of what happened. You may remind players of the rules, but you cannot directly tell them what to do. If you're not sure how to file a report, read this thread over!
